FOBP projects

Litterpic

We have litterpics, gloves and bag holders and welcome other community groups to use the equipment for Burgess Park litterpics.

In 2024 we have trialled community litterpics at different times of the day, and days of the week. We will restart regular litterpics  in 2025.

We ran a successful weekly Monday morning litterpic from 2020 to 2023 (April to October) to help tackle heavy week-end litter in the park, especially preventing rubbish getting into the lake and deep-cleaning areas with heavy use.

Planning sub-group

We are responding to planning applications around the park, especially Parkhouse St and Old Kent Road developments, and others. We have a sub-group to develop responses and meet with developers and support park users to respond to consultation.  Get in touch friendsofburgesspark@gmail.com.

Wildlife and conservation

Our current focus is the woodlands, we have installed woodlands trail signage, and undertaken winter woodlands maintenance.

Old library bath and washhouse (OLBAW)

FOBP has been campaigning and leading activity to make sure this beautiful building is repaired and restored for the benefit of the park.  The old library is currently vacant and the bathhouse is used by Lynn AC Boxing Club.
