Burgess Park’s Head Gardener 2016 to 2024

Gregory Smith worked as Head Gardener at Burgess Park from 2016 to December 2024. Gregory cared passionately about people and the environment and his work brought him the chance to help both. It was hugely important to Greg that the park was a space for everyone in the community to enjoy, and he worked hard to make it as beautiful as possible for people and wildlife alike.  A horticulturist and an environmentalist at heart, Gregory was also an Ofsted Outstanding teacher of Horticulture and a Horticulture trainer and assessor. Prior to his horticultural career he studied at the prestigious art school, the Slade School of Fine Art, where he achieved a BA (Hons) in Fine Art. An experience that influenced the creative and unique perspective he brought to his gardening practice.
