Glengall Wharf
| One of the Friends of Burgess Park was attempting to photograph the foxes on Glengall Wharf when another resident of the Wharf got into the picture.

October 25th was a day to 'Do one thing' at Glengall Wharf Community Garden
A wild area of land, part of the Surrey Canal Walk arm of Burgess Park, the area is an old wharf, cobbled and overgrown.
Thank you to everyone who put the gloves on and dragged the junk out of that amazing space!
The site has been designated a BBC 'Breathing Place'
It
was quite a horrible haul of stuff that had been lying around for a
long, long time. It has really made a huge difference and was great to
get together with other local people to improve our environment.
Thanks to the BBC for their Do One Thing campaign that inspired the day and provided publicity material and tee shirts.
See us on the BBC London site here. Glengall Wharf is featured in pictures 4, 15 and 16 in the BBC Autumnwatch in Southwark gallery.
We
also really appreciated the support of Deborah Mckenzie, Parks Outreach
Officer and Community Wardens Colin Hunte and Abdulrahman Ahmed.
Thank you too to Southwark Cyclists who joined in to clean and trim the area.
It's an interesting spot with the old wharf quite in evidence, with the potential to become something special.
We
hope we can develop the space for local users in some way so it becomes
a refreshing stopover on the route from Peckham to the park and beyond.
Our
aim was to open up the area and create a rich haven for wildlife and a
wild garden with focus on foraging / edibles and food plants. We wanted
to create access, interest and generate community involvement. The pictures below show the team who turned up to help.
