Promoting considerate cycling on the Surrey Canal 2011

Southwark Cyclists gathered on the Surrey Canal in the morning of 13 September and again on Monday, 26 September from 5pm to 6pm to ask cyclists to slow down for pedestrians. Friends of Burgess Park have also raised the problem of speeding cyclists with Southwark Council after numerous complaints.

Southwark Cyclists are keen to remind cyclists they have a responsibility to cycle slowly past pedestrians.

Give your support to making the Surrey Canal a safe and pleasant shared use path through Burgess Park.

Cycle route improvement

The park entry off Glengall Road is being developed by LBS Highways. It features  a widened entry (with the removal of some fence panels), a build out on Glengall Road to make it easier for shared access to the path as well as a section of resurfacing of the path. This improvement has been financed by CGS money and was proposed by Sue Amos, FOBP chair.
